Our Charitable Work

'A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another. By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.'

(John 13:34-35)

We demonstrate our love for God by the way we show our love for one another- especially in how we respond to those in need. The message to each one of us is the same as it was to Jesus’ followers over 2,000 years ago and together staff and pupils respond to that message with enthusiasm and commitment. We are inspired to do this by Catholic Social Teachings- Human Dignity, Preferential Option for the Poor, Common Good, Stewardship, Solidarity, Dignity of Work and Participation and Peace and Reconciliation.

We can be charitable in different ways. We can treat others charitably in our daily lives, particularly those in need, or we can support established charities by fundraising, volunteering or campaigning. At St. Patrick's & St. Brigid's College we want to educate our pupils about the Charities that we raise funds for and we ask them to allocate those funds to specific projects. During the year representatives from the chosen charities will come in to speak to the relevant year groups.

St Patrick's & St. Brigid's College aims that all members of our school community are active in supporting charitable causes and should understand why this is central to our mission and purpose as a Catholic community.

As part of our ongoing work with our pupils, raising awareness for the needs of others both in our community and beyond is very important.

We encourage our pupils to be active in charitable organisations and fund raising activities.
